We provide advanced spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Dr. Joseph C. Pigg has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.
While the doctor is proficient in many forms of comftable manual adjustments, there are some cases where manual adjusting is not what is needed either based on patient preference or doctor's determination of what is best. For these cases, the doctor is also fully trained and uses the Impulse I.Q. Adjusting Instrument.
The state-of-the-art Impulse iQ Adjusting Instrument® has a high-tech sensor that provides information from your body's response to chiropractic adjustments to a micro-computer inside to give the doctor feedback about your results.
MYOVISION Dynamic surface EMG testing
If you've ever been to a health faire, chances are you've seen a chiropractor performing scans of muscle tightness while people are standing still. This is a great screening tool and helps educate patients to see that an abnormality could exist even where there isn't necessarily any pain. But there's more...
The Dynamic (with movement) surface EMG is the full version of this technology which is used widely in spinal research settings and is actually available at our office. Measuring electrodes are placed over muscles of the back or neck and measure the activity of muscles contracting to show when muscles do not contract correctly or over-contract when they shouldn't. At the same time, range of motion is digitally measured following the AMA guides for performing range of motion.
The end result is a full page graph of each motion objectively proving exactly when and how the muscles contracted with the range of motion graphed along with it. This is extremely beneficial in cases such as auto accidents, disability cases, Medicare cases, or any situation where the problem is soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons) and can't be shown on regular x-rays. In cases where most of the damage occurred to soft tissues and the insurance needs more information than "it hurts", this is the only technology which can factually and objectively document the soft tissue damage as it relates to active movement.
Joseph C. Pigg, D.C., teaches patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.
Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.
Manual therapy (Myofascial Release Technique) does more than make you feel good, it can actually help your body achieve balance and health. This therapy offers a natural treatment approach which actually relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our chiropractic office provides specific muscular therapy that is complimentary to their chiropractic care if it is needed in your case. Each plan is tailored to meet the patient's unique pain condition or injury. Myofascial release has been been known to relieve muscle pain and spasms, increase a patient's range of motion, while also aiding in a patient's recovery.
